Imazu is a painter who uses her technique to formulate new imageries. Her first draft was created on a computer by making a collage of many images found on the internet or taken by herself. Then, she transfers that collaged image on canvas with her paint brush but not exactly as it is. The image was transformed in her brain and it looked as if it is melting or collapsing. For Imazu, a meaning of a motif is not much important. Moreover, she enjoys the colors, shapes and texture of motifs and composes them dynamically on canvas.

In this work “shape”, she chose a Greek sculpture from the late 5th century B.C as an origianl motif. It is a statue called Nike by Paionios (image on the right) which was discovered partially missing. Imazu complemented the missing parts with her vigorous brush strokes. It looks as if the statue is just moving beyond the space or changing its appearance into something else. It stimulates our imagination.
