Tanaka is a Kyoto-based artist born in 1973, who uses photograph as a medium. Graduated from School of Visual Arts in New York, Tanaka has been exploring a new expression in photography. Influenced by expressionism artist such as Mondorian and abstract expressionism artist Rotheko, Tanaka simplifies an object or idea by extracting important elements to create a work. Tanaka’s artwork is abstract and concrete at the same time and it could be appreciated from many kinds of aspect. Bright but soft or gentle color with its mysterious image stimulates our mind and let us seeing his work forgetting about time.
