Born in Tokyo, Japan, 1969. Lives and works in New York. Katsuhiro Saiki’s work continues the dialogue of portraying landscape conceptually, as begun by the contemporary American photographer Lewis Baltz, who was at the fore of the New Topographics Movement in the 1970’s. Since vieweing a Baltz exhibition in Tokyo, Saiki’s mode of expression progressed from the paintbrush to the camera. |
